The Interdisciplinary Understanding of Resilience - Addressing Climate Change in Urban Regions

Interdisciplinary Workshop, June 25-26 2012, HafenCity University, Hamburg, Germany.

The resilience concept can be used both, as an analytical framework for understanding the dynamics in urban social-ecological systems and as a guide to develop adaptation strategies to climate change. Building upon these considerations, the research group plan B:altic explores the potentials of resilience as a bridging concept to merge different perspectives such as urban planning, governance, discourse analysis and modeling of climate change impacts. Against this background, the question arises as to how an integrated concept of resilience can be developed and employed in interdisciplinary research that involves such a wide range of scientific disciplines and epistemological approaches?
